Young Investigator Award 2008

The Young Investigator Award, now in its ninth year, is a highly successful event rewarding excellence in South Australia's young researchers in both science and their ability to communicate and 'sell' that science. The Award is an initiative of the Children, Youth and Women's Health Service and the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Adelaide. The University of South Australia and Flinders University are also partners in the Award together with the Women's and Children's Health Research Institute and the Women's and Children's Hospital Foundation.

The finals of the Young Investigator Award were held on Wednesday 22 October at the Adelaide Convention Centre.

The winner of the 2008 Young Investigator Award was:

Dr Lisa Smithers, Medical Scientist and Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Women's and Children's Health Research Institute (WCHRI) and Flinders Medical Centre, for her research examining how Omega-3 oils improve the way pre-term infants see the world.
